Who We Are, What We Are
Some of you heard about this site and anticipated its arrival. Some of you have found the site -- and found it to be a pleasant surprise. And still more people will soon learn of something new and exciting: www.insidesaline.com.
We're just glad you're here, no matter how you learned about us.
We launched insidesaline.com on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009.
First and foremost, we're local. Very local. Many of you will know us and even more will know of us. A couple of us have spent much of our lives in media -- newspapers, to be exact -- and we're professionals. Journalists. And let us make it clear that we intend to maintain a standard of professionalism that served us well during those years in the newspaper business.
We do not intend to relax professional standards just because this is the Internet; we do intend to provide you with informative and entertaining and enlightening material about Saline County, its residents and the political landscape, which in itself is plenty wacky enough sometimes.
Here is what we are not:
We are not here as a social networking site, even though we afford you the opportunity to comment both to us and among yourselves. There's at least one Saline County-based social networking site available, and we encourage you to visit it. Heck, we're members.
We are not here as a daily newspaper site, even though newspapers remain part of our fabric. We encourage you to read the daily newspapers to feed your local news appetites. We certainly read them.
We are not here with any personal or political agendas in tow. We have opinions, of course, but that doesn't mean someone has handed us a baton. We run our own races.
We are here to provide you with a variety of information, from news-related offerings to cultural pieces to entertaining columns to whatever else may strike our fancy or yours. We will provide you with some news in a timely manner. We will call upon our years of local knowledge to provide you with local insight. We're not trying to fit in; we've already been here.
We want to take you inside news and politics in Saline County. Behind the headlines, if you will. We want to inform, entertain and serve food for thought -- most of the information provided by the fact that we are local products and we are fortunate to have insight, something that is not learned in a short period.
We offer business people and professionals a new and profitable avenue for advertising. They can reach a whole lot of folks and cover the demographic spectrum at a very affordable cost. We're not asking to have all the eggs in one basket, just some of them. Besides, people who understand advertising know that one medium can complement another -- and provide better results for the advertiser.
You're already part of our daily routine so make www.insidesaline.com part of yours.
